TOTALLY UNIQUE 1OFF UNISSUED EMI acetate copyright owned by Irving Mills publishing of MILLS MUSIC. Killer upbeat girl dancer, for which we can find no other versions performed by anyone else. Which we find unusual for such a commercially viable song. A truly completely "lost" session, all we have been able to assume is the artist had a release with the Moon Folk in Florida, this session was most like produced by Jack Blanchard And Misty Morgan, but written by Brit-based written by Phil Wainman & Harry Spiro. Very confusing, but a clouded history is just how we like it. UNISSUED and UNIQUE with no obvious background history. For lovers of feelgood mid-60's dance tunes this unique offering ticks all the boxes, for serious UK collectors of girl-vocals and Northern Soul to desire ownership. Now listen to a production horn saturated production and a full-blooded sister performance worthy of any British Diva you care to mention. A punchy piano intro is blasted aside by a fanfare of horns, that continue to blitz the session, with their unstoppable blasts of deserving support, for this mystery-songbird with the soaring voice. Enhanced by shrill but uncredited girl-group choruses (Moonfolk?). Brutal brass breaks, chirping girls, and a rich lead voice that just cruises, at just below the speed limit, but with consummate ease hits full throttle as the crescendo delivers, a magnificent song home. If this Northern Soul British thoroughbred had been issued on EMI label Parlophone, Columbia, or the like in the mid-'60s there is little doubt it would have graced the turntables of Wigan Casino, Cleethorpes Pier, etc. I can also envisage the British label advocates Northern Soul DJ playing it to a packed floor. In the hands of the legendary Nev Wherry, this tune would have become a monster. Unique and waiting for the next weekender packed dance-floor to ignite it, with something unheard before. In the interests of Northern Soul forensics, any more info on this mysterious recording artist will of course be most welcome. thanking Tim Fuller for your input into this mysterious one-off!
